Final Report
CoVaRR-Net’s funding ended on March 31, 2025, after four years of intense work, multiple successes, impressive impact, and a legacy that will positively influence health research in Canada for generations to come.
A final report was written to highlight those successes, the impacts, the legacies and the lessons learned from all 13 CoVaRR-Net units, as well as the benefits such a network has offered the Canadian public health landscape.
After introducing CoVaRR-Net and highlighting its overall major successes, the report is divided by CoVaRR-Net unit and subsequently gives an overview of individually-funded research projects before ending in a conclusion and a list of overall lessons learned for consideration. Several appendices follow, offering considerable detail.
On behalf of all CoVaRR-Net members, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our funder, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), which renewed our funding twice, and to our government partners, past and present, at Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), PHAC’s National Microbiology Laboratory, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and Genome Canada for their support, trust and collaboration.
